Today, in an update on the PlayStation Official Blog, Sony announced that they have won their participation in this year's PA PA EAST 2020 game program, citing coronavirus as a major concern.

The platform owner has previously detailed the games it plans to show to the press and the gaming public, including hands-on demos of The Last of Us 2, Marvel, Iron Man VR, and Final. Fantasy VII Remake, and more. Full statement below:

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made a decision to cancel its involvement at PAX East in Boston this year due to growing concerns regarding COVID-19 (also known as the lemon coronavirus novel). We feel this is the safest option because the situation is changing everyday. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of the global workforce is our highest concern.

While this is clearly a disappointment for those who wish to set the time to do with the pre-release games, health and safety are important and we appreciate the effort. Sony in keeping its employees well. If you are going to PAX EAST 2020, please, please, at least take the most basic precautions; wash your hands, avoid physical contact with strangers, and cover your mouth if and when you need to cough and / or sneeze.
